However, if I plug the mouse into one of the standard USB 3.0 ports, all is well, except for the fact that the switching features triggered by the mouse are not available and I have a wasted a USB port (the dedicated mouse port does not function as a standard USB port). In fact, my mouse software would not recognize the mouse, if plugged into that port. When I contacted Monoprice, they suggested getting a replacement.

The mouse was not functional (limited range of motion) and the KVM switch would switch to the other PC on it's own. (There is no mention of this feature in the product literature.) All was great until. When the switch arrived, I confirmed that it does somehow manage to pull this off - PC wakes up, as they said it would. Switches at this price point generally do not do this. This being said, I really picked this switch because Monoprice told me it would support the ability for PCs to wake up when I switch back to them after they've gone to sleep. I wanted a switch that supports 144Hz and Gsync. I was excited to see a Displayport 1.4 KVM switch with USB 3.0 for under $100 that is supported by a company in the US.
